Bianca Rae broke out of her comfort zone while busking on the buzzing and beautiful streets of Melbourne. Now based in Taupo (NZ), her passion and talent with music has continued to stir audiences from the first note sung through the mic. Her voice has a uniquely beautiful sound that distinguishes her from others. It is recognizable and different, smooth and soulful.
Born in Aotearoa in 1990, Bianca was brought up in a very musically talented family. This ignited a passion in her to write songs and create new sounds with her guitar and voice. Her craft of songwriting stuns and amazes other writers and readers of her work. She throws all of her emotion and heart into her songs. She is a creator of beautiful melodic sounds, as well as upbeat energetic rhythms. Her sense of style and her skill with her own music, and also the artists she covers, has an organic quality that is rare.
Bianca kicked off my music career gigging at a sweet little pub in Devonport, Auckland, called Tiny Triumphs. From there, she continued to play at bars, markets, weddings, private events, and corporate functions. She travelled to Europe and bought a guitar at a street market in 2015 where she then got involved with a band at an Irish pub called Foleys. After moving to Taupo in 2019 she discovered an even deeper love for playing music at weddings and private functions. Her current favourite places to play music are the Sunday Markets, Two Mile Bay Sailing Club, and the monthly blues club. She recently recorded a demo tape (see Music page) of some of her original music at Tsunami Studios, Levin. She is active on Instagram and would love you to drop her a line if you like what you hear. She also loves teaching and is currently taking on students for both singing and songwriting lessons.
“Bianca has an acoustic style unlike the usual depiction of a sweet singer-songwriter. She has a voice that can draw you in and create a stir in a crowd.”
